Tamsin slid out of bed and padded through the room. Something felt off. She wasn't sure what.

She muttered something to herself, then wandered into the bathroom. She grabbed her toothbrush, poured on some toothpaste, and gave her teeth a thorough scrub.

She spat the toothpaste into the sink.

She looked up at the mirror.

She said, "Nope."

She vanished back into her room.

Nope. Nope. Nope.

"Why would you have to fight?" Didi asked, flexing her arms self-consciously. "... anyhow, you're bigger now. You could just sit on people."

Death was many things, but she was not a battlemaster.

Tamsin gave her a blank stare.

Followed by a, "Yeah, we're lucky nothing has ever invaded on these weekends."

Didi stared black, just as blankly.

Then: "Probably. One crisis at a time is enough."

"Ugggh," Tamsin said, stomping out of her room. "I'm declaring these weekends a bank holiday." Beat. "I think I can do that."

"Kind of a waste of being mayor if you can't," Didi offered. "I mean, you only have so many excuses to use your power, right? May as well enjoy them. Just don't let all the restaurants close or you'll have a riot on your hands."

Fandom could accept a lot, but only if there was food.

"Sure," Tamsin said, "But on these weekends, we're putting in a ban on using pronouns in businesses entirely. That's just asking for a headache otherwise."

"Ban things like 'young lady' and 'sir' too," Didi added. "The guy at the sandwich place called me 'sir' and I got very confused."

"They," Tamsin said firmly. "We're an all-they island on gender changing weekends. Anything else, you get a fine."

"Maybe Comrade if somebody doesn't know your name," Didi suggested. "Or hon. It's hard to be upset if somebody's calling you hon."

"Could be condescending, though," Tamsin pointed out. "Let's go with Comrade. I always like to think I'm making Joe McCarthy cry."

Look, that was like five minutes ago for her. And for Death.

Didi snickered, because yeah, that was about five minutes ago.

"Excellent law," she agreed with a nod. "'They' pronouns, 'comrade' instead of 'miss'or'sir,' and if you can add a nobody-invades clause that would rock."

"I should have the Troopers standing by to arrest anyone who even looks like they're thinking about invading," Tamsin sighed. "I mean, regular fighting would suck, but so would an Alot-verload."

"Unless the troopers all get distracted by the new parts too," Didi pointed out. "And now I'm trying not to imagine Troopers who all have PMS at once."

"Oh god, Ralph with PMS," Tamsin groaned. "Did you have to put that in my head?"

"It was in mine, so yeah," Didi said, completely unrepentant. "Though it might distract him from complaining about the armor squishing his boobs."

"Have we ever seen girl Tino?" Tamsin wondered. "I'll bet that one's a big giant mess."

"I feel like I have," Didi said thoughtfully. "But he might have just been dressed up."

Tamsin shook her head. "Ugh," she said succinctly. "So what's for lunch?"

Besides the leftovers she'd had which, yeah, hadn't actually been enough.

"Thought you said you ate," Didi pointed out, amused. "Anyhow, it's chili and cornbread from the diner. Probably enough to share."

"I did eat," Tamsin said, shrugging. "I guess the dude bod just needs more calories."

Suuuure.

"Uh-huh," Didi said, still looking skeptical, and headed toward the kitchen for a bowls and spoons. "I think you just like stealing my food."
