For a couple of minutes, Tamsin had contemplated the idea of just opening up Town Hall for the party, but... what would be the point in that? People were fired up on hormones, people wanted to get laid, you needed a space small enough to get 'em close together. So to speak.

Also, this way she got free booze out of the deal, so-- win win.

She'd hung the black sheets back in front of the large store windows (partly to keep the light out, partly so it was slightly less obvious the house was technically a shop she was technically maybe squatting in). She'd tossed a ton of pillows and an old mattress on the floor, since she didn't actually have a sofa, per sé. The rooms upstairs were... well, okay, they were rooms.

And there was a table for incoming booze. With solo cups. Of course.

Perfect. Time for a party. If anyone had seen the posters...

"Sensitive about your flexibility?" she teased. "I could help you work on it."

Now you were just being mean, Irene.

"Irene, don't play with me," he told her, shaking his head. "If you're not gonna play with me."

He didn't look like he minded too much, though.

She softened a little, though she was still smiling. "I'll stop," she promised. "Partly because I've promised my after-party away already, and partly because as cute as you are, I'm not quite drunk enough to explore my bi-curious side, and lesbian cockteases are the meanest sort, probably."

Which, really, was the only reason she hadn't hooked up with him yet. Because seriously, Mike, look at you.

"But you are awfully fun to flirt with, Mike."

"Well, call me whenever you get drunk enough, because I'll be ready." Also, don't think he wasn't making a mental note to call her next time he woke up looking like a lady. "You have no idea."

"I have a pretty good idea." And she was just going to sympathetically pat your arm, Mike. For sympathy and not because it was a masterpiece. "I've not gotten any since before I came here. And that is just sad. I'm really pretty."

And modest, too.

"But I promise I'll leave you the straight ones tonight, all right? I'm a hell of a wingwoman if you need one." She flashed him a bright smile. "Sort of comes with the whole sex-industry territory."

Mike raised his eyebrows. "Is that sex industry just in relation to running a fun toy store, or otherwise?"

Zero judgment, either way. Because of reasons.

Irene actually looked around carefully for a moment, frowning thoughtfully.

"Nooo, I was in the business long before I picked up Dite's," she confided. "How much would it freak you out if I told you I was a practicing dominatrix until last summer? You know, hypothetically."

Mike shrugged like it was no big deal. "Well uh, hypothetically, I don't know where 'impressed and only a little surprised' rates on the freakout scale," he admitted. "Used to know a few ladies who did that on the side, actually."

"Did you really?" Color Irene a little surprised, yeah. "Now, that's interesting. Nearly everyone I've told here has either laughed or had a billion questions -- what have you been doing with your time, Mr. Lane?"

Mike shrugged again.

"Stripping, back in Tampa." So yes. "Kinda gets you familiar with the rest of the industry around."

And now you were getting another, slightly more critical once-over, Mike, because she didn't know you were in the industry before! "Oh, god, I bet you were good at it," she said after a moment, glancing back up to his face with a conspiratorial smile. "Why'd you stop?"

Because seriously. She, for one, would have made it rain for you, Mike.

Yeah, people had done a decent amount of that. He rubbed the back of his head and gave a chuckle, though more wry than before. "Needed a big life change. Didn't want to get stuck doing just one thing forever, you know?"
