For a couple of minutes, Tamsin had contemplated the idea of just opening up Town Hall for the party, but... what would be the point in that? People were fired up on hormones, people wanted to get laid, you needed a space small enough to get 'em close together. So to speak.

Also, this way she got free booze out of the deal, so-- win win.

She'd hung the black sheets back in front of the large store windows (partly to keep the light out, partly so it was slightly less obvious the house was technically a shop she was technically maybe squatting in). She'd tossed a ton of pillows and an old mattress on the floor, since she didn't actually have a sofa, per sé. The rooms upstairs were... well, okay, they were rooms.

And there was a table for incoming booze. With solo cups. Of course.

Perfect. Time for a party. If anyone had seen the posters...

"Ugh," Tamsin said. "Fine, you can come in because you're hot, but don't tell anyone else or they're all going to start skimping."

She was easy, but only this week, all right? Don't get any ideas.

"Then you were a weird fifteen year-old," Irene decided, sensitively.

Derek sighed like the adult he was. "My boyfriend isn't in town."

Stupid college.

"Scout's honor," Eliot promised, proceeding to get the hand gesture completely wrong. "Didn't even know anyone was livin' over here."

"We do what works for us," Tamsin said, shrugging. "Anybody doesn't like it, they can get out of here."

Mike chuckled. Hey, it was nice to be approved of. "Thank you, and you're welcome." He gladly gave the beer to her, too. He figured he'd get his share of it eventually. "How's the party so far?"

Eliot nodded to her, trying to work out what it was about Jones that seemed . . . off.

And, you know, ogling a little. That was hard to avoid, this week.

"God, I love this week," Irene sighed happily, taking a step closer. "Absolutely yes. Are you always this direct or is it a this-week thing? Because I'm really bloody sick of beating around the bush with the 'oh, I like women, do you like women, how interesting' shit."

Hatter shrugged and glanced around. "I haven't really looked, to be honest. There's a lot of people here and I'm just so shy and demure and all."

After a look around the room, Allie nodded. "It's a good distraction. And who knows, maybe someone will get lucky."

"Oh yes. So reserved," Irene agreed, rolling her eyes. "It's not like a -- like, you're allowed, right? Not going to get in trouble with anyone?"

He hadn't used the G-word about Alice, but it didn't hurt to check.

"Aren't you worried about getting cold, Mike, darling?" Irene asked, eyeing his arms.

Look. Just because men weren't always her cup of tea didn't mean she couldn't appreciate a work of art.

"We haven't actually discussed it," Hatter admitted, shrugging. "I really don't want to have a conversation about this island and it's weird machinations."

"Ohhhh, that'll be fun," Irene said, because she did so love an assembly. And she didn't even know about Sparkle's project! "I'm mostly teaching them how to put together outfits without feeling, you know, stuffy. How to build a style of their own."

Funny. Steps closer had a weird way of multiplying. At least if the other party was also setting them. "Well, I'm not usually this horny," Tamsin said, "But I'm always happy to be a booty call for hot people, and I'm thinking you'll still be a nine when this is over, so..."

Tony's taste did run toward 'capable of murdering me' so...

"I'm not sure if that's working for me or not." It definitely was.

Tamsin shrugged.

Then she took a step forward and planted one on him.

"Really? Because I've been living here for... depressingly long now," Tamsin said.

'Living', 'squatting', 'toh-may-toe', 'toh-mah-toe'...

"Nah," Mike replied, with a brief though definitely appreciative glance up and down her body because it could not be helped. "I think things here will be warm enough that I'll be just fine. But thanks for the concern, Irene."

"And you've done so much with the place." It wasn't as if Tamsin was the first woman Eliot had met who went with the 'permanent squatter' look. She was probably the first mayor he'd met who did, though.

"There's a ridiculous amount of hot people in there," Tamsin confided, popping the top off one bottle because beer was kind of her booze of choice. "And booze. So I'd say it's going pretty well so far."

"If at least half the party doesn't get laid tonight, I'm going to consider myself a failure."

"...that's accurate."

"Thanks."

Hey, she'd only had the job for a month or two. Soon she might start pulling enough paychecks so she could make this place look slightly nicer!

... it'd be a while.

"You're the guy from the, what is it, a diner?" she said.
