For a couple of minutes, Tamsin had contemplated the idea of just opening up Town Hall for the party, but... what would be the point in that? People were fired up on hormones, people wanted to get laid, you needed a space small enough to get 'em close together. So to speak.

Also, this way she got free booze out of the deal, so-- win win.

She'd hung the black sheets back in front of the large store windows (partly to keep the light out, partly so it was slightly less obvious the house was technically a shop she was technically maybe squatting in). She'd tossed a ton of pillows and an old mattress on the floor, since she didn't actually have a sofa, per sé. The rooms upstairs were... well, okay, they were rooms.

And there was a table for incoming booze. With solo cups. Of course.

Perfect. Time for a party. If anyone had seen the posters...

"I didn't, but now I know what to get for Christmas gifts next year." TONY NO.

There was really not all that much to stare at when it came down to it. The bottle was definitely more interesting.

"I half think they bottled some of the glitter from the storm," Allie said, holding out the bottle. "I'm not much a drinker, so hopefully you can put this to good use."

But he was a romantic!

Derek just huffed in annoyance at that. "this week needs to be over."

And lo, at the sight of him, Tamsin sighed. "No booze?" she said. "Really?"

"No triskelion?" Yes, that was the best to focus on.

"I'm sure somebody will drink it," Tamsin said.

She just wasn't sure it'd be her. Glittery things were kind of suspicious. "But hey, thanks. Welcome to the party, make yourself at home."

"I expect your class would have been a rather popular place," Jones replied. "Currently my students are free to research their own topic of interest. At the end of the semester they will be presenting their research to other students and faculty at an assembly. Why elements of fashion are you teaching? Is it one where they make their own fashion or merely study it?"

"I think the odds are in my favor on that one, if I were a betting woman," Irene replied. Especially since they'd explicitly set it up, and all. "But there's plenty to choose from. Got your eye on anyone? I'll wingwoman for you, if you're allowed to play."

"I know," Tamsin sighed.

What? She knew.

"We have some shadowy corners if you want to dig something else later," she added.

Tamsin.

"I wouldn't expect you to," Jones noted. "Though I wouldn't expect the mayor also to throw a party to get free alcoholic beverages either."

Could Jones be stirring the pot? Trying to get a reaction out of Tamsin?

Maybe.

"You know, I like the sound of that," Tamsin said thoughtfully. "You want to make out and maybe move it to your place later?"

That was what they were going for here, right?

"I hear that's what law school does," Irene said sympathetically. "Systematically attempts to murder you until you prove it wrong. And I'm fine -- my class this time around is a little easier on the hormones and embarrassment factor, and I'm grateful for that this week."

Yeah, of course Mike showed up. There was no way he would've missed this after the week he'd had, productive though it had been.

He also brought a ton of beer with him. He was a good guest like that. (His shirt also didn't have sleeves. He was a good partygoer like that, too.)

It was Tamsin. She hadn't even wanted the mayor job. What, was she supposed to feel ashamed about any of this? That train had looooong since left the station.

"I'm a freewheeling kind of civil servant, what can I say," she said, "I mean, with the way the island's been, this party is a civil service."

"Thanks for having it. It's better way to spend a night then what I usually do," she admitted.

"Give me body paint and I'm Renoir," Jack said, looking up from his work with an easy grin. "Why, did you want me to test my skills on you?"

With the way Eponine looked tonight, contact wouldn't exactly be a hardship.

That got a startled laugh out of Tony. "Oh, I like you already."

"Nice arms," was the first thing Tamsin said.

"Nice beer!" was the second thing she said, and then the beer was getting grabbed.

"You're the mayor now, aren't you?" Jack remembered. "It would be an excellent use of power."

"It's not that bad," Tamsin said, rolling her eyes. "What crawled up your ass? Or I guess didn't crawl up your ass?"

"That part's optional," Tamsin said, "But nice."

Eliot shrugged. "Was all out."

It wasn't even a lie. He had a lot of repressing to do this week.

"Maybe we should set up some kind of sex pollen emergency hotline, too," Tamsin sighed. She eyed Jack's chest. "Though I guess putting up fliers works just fine as a hotline, too."

"I've noticed this island tends to be rather loose when applying laws and regulations," Jones observed. "I suppose this type of civil service shouldn't be a surprise to anyone."

"Right? I figured everyone around here could use a party," Tamsin said. "And getting laid, but the party is the thing I was absolutely certain I could swing."
