For a couple of minutes, Tamsin had contemplated the idea of just opening up Town Hall for the party, but... what would be the point in that? People were fired up on hormones, people wanted to get laid, you needed a space small enough to get 'em close together. So to speak.

Also, this way she got free booze out of the deal, so-- win win.

She'd hung the black sheets back in front of the large store windows (partly to keep the light out, partly so it was slightly less obvious the house was technically a shop she was technically maybe squatting in). She'd tossed a ton of pillows and an old mattress on the floor, since she didn't actually have a sofa, per sé. The rooms upstairs were... well, okay, they were rooms.

And there was a table for incoming booze. With solo cups. Of course.

Perfect. Time for a party. If anyone had seen the posters...

"Of course," he said, shooting a smirk her way as he nodded. "Wouldn't want to be responsible for having to clean up that mess. I am many things but a maid is not one of them."

Tight dress meant that when Tamsin'd opened the door, she'd been looking at the legs first. What? It was sex pollen week. She wasn't normally quite like this, but that didn't mean she was going to put up any front of shame while she was.

"Welcome," she said, looking back up at Abbi's face. "Awww, you brought vodka. Nice."

"Well, you see, I had plenty. And I saw the people from town hall putting up posters this morning, and I said to myself, well! There are other people on this island who might appreciate it as much as me," Éponine said with a smile that was a little more deliberate than usual. "And I don't need help, but I certainly wouldn't turn it down."

"Pity because I was so looking forward to you leading a cheer of some sort without your shirt on," Hatter joked. "It's been on my 'please let this happen' list all week."

"Something to do with pollen," Irene explained helpfully. "I don't really get it, but yes, there's definitely a reason."

"You're usually pretty broody," Tamsin was forced to point out. Forced!

"Oooh, scotch," Abbi said approvingly. "My college parties didn't have scotch. It was more like Everclear and off-brand tequila."

Ah, memories.

"The night is young, Hatter," Irene said ominously. "I've stripped sober and for less interesting occasions."

She probably wasn't going to strip, no.

"I don't know many cheers, though."

"I do not have any emotions," Jones replied flatly. "I'm just merely noting my observations. Are you not in some position of authority on the island?"

"I have a theory that vodka is the best bet for a party that I don't know how fancy it's gonna be," Abbi explained. She was used to Ilana, and therefore used to her legs being stared at; it barely registered with her. "Wine'll get you some weird looks if it's too fancy. Beer is just disappointing. But vodka's always awesome."

Okay, that explanation was longer than it needed to be. "Hi, I'm Abbi."

"Tony," he replied, more than a little amused by the manners. Or lack there of. "Nice to meet you."

"Next time I'm installing air filters for this." Because this time was a lost cause on focusing.

Science had abandoned him!

Irene reached out to take a couple of the bottles, just because she'd offered and all. "Well, I'm sure everyone here'll appreciate your generosity," she assured her. "If nothing else, you've brought schnapps, and I haven't had schnapps in years, so you've got my gratitude."

"I'll do the cheers for you, then," he offered, reaching for one of his bottles of wine so he could pop it open and pour himself a glass. "I'm very creative."

"Oh, a love of travel," Irene lied breezily. "What do your kids do in the Independent Study thing? I've got a fashion class this term, but last term I taught sex ed -- and I can only imagine if this had happened then."

"I've been known to kick an ass or two," Tamsin said, smirking. "Or two thousand."

What? It was true.

"I'm guessing no one ever has to question your credentials," she said. "I mean, look: you bring thoughtful gifts, you've got good taste, and you're aggressively hot. Bet you're selling condoms like hotcakes on a normal week."

"For me it was whatever could be found or made." Engineers were hardcore.

"I don't know of any."

Tamsin pulled a face.

"I'm going to make that happen," she decided. "On-island temp agency for hot people, to brighten up everybody's days."

"It's okay," Tamsin said. "I mean, you brought booze, and you seem capable enough to stand around and look pretty. That's all anyone's asking tonight."

"You try smelling this room."

SO MUCH SEXUAL FRUSTRATION.

"I'm the mayor," Tamsin said. She shrugged. "Sorry, I don't come down and meet the new teachers when they hit the island."

"It's a pleasure," Tamsin said. That was about as polite as she got. "I'm really digging the goatee, by the way."

"I didn't realize you had such an artistic side, monsieur," Éponine commented as she passed by. She'd taken off her sweater, and likely no one would have minded if she just tossed it in a corner somewhere, but leaving it with her coat gave her a good excuse to move back through the room and ogle the partygoers the whole way.

"Nothing's disappointing about beer," Tamsin assured her. "I'd have taken beer." Beer was great. But so was vodka. And new people. Right now everything was pretty great, actually.

"I'm Tamsin," she added. "This is my party. You can leave the vodka on the table and dump your coat wherever. Aren't you the new girl?"

Tamsin shrugged. "So make out with someone," she suggested.
