Teamwork part two- Monday

They were in a classroom today, where Jag and Jaina were standing at the front, waiting for everyone to arrive.

"Good morning," Jaina started once everyone had arrived. "We've got a mostly new group, so we're going to do the fun intro stuff. I'm Jaina, this is Jag, we're married, and we're going to teach you about teamwork."

"In this class you'll complete exercises in working together, both physically and through communication," Jag continued. "We will be starting easy this week with introductions. Tell us your name and what skills you'd like to work on, and then we'll have a short assignment."

The Photo Hut; Monday [07/07].

Prompto was always trying to think of ways to help make that bottom line here at the Photo Hut a little better, not so much because he was worried about things like money...well, not with the PH, anyway, because he knew Bloom had that covered, but let's not get into the slight panic he frequently felt regarding his ever-growing family expenditures...but just because he wanted the place to do well in general, and, okay, okay, if it did well, then it would impress the Prof and that was also pretty important to him.

So he was pretty excited when a box of things he ordered finally arrived that morning, and he could spend his day at down in the Hut trying to figure out the best way to display them. It was just a small collection, at first, a few photography-related T-shirts that he'd found cool or relatable, inspirational or funny, or....

Huh.

He didn't remember ordering this one, and, with cheeks going fairly pink, he debated on whether or not to display that one, too. This was, after all, a family business.

(The shirt was, however, still pretty SFW).

Either way, the Photo Hut is open!

Fandom Clinic, Monday 7/7

Brunch had been good yesterday, unsurprisingly, and Stark was already planning when he might go back to try something else.

For now he had the usual coffees (all iced today) for the nurses and himself and some cookies he'd baked over the weekend for sharing.

Stabby was on a tiny lounge chair next to his tank today, reading a novel. A mystery novel for a mystery crustacean. That seemed fitting.

The clinic was open, the crab was reading about murders (which was not at all worrisome, of course), and the alien was in.

Once again, it seems all the news is confined to a single locale, and that is the grand opening of Raiden's new establishment Over Easy, which my note states is open from 7 until 3, seven days a week, and offers all your breakfast and, er, 'brunch' favorites- in addition to bottomless brunch cocktails on the weekends- *squirrel chittering* Well, I don't know what else you expected me to do with a note that you handed me except read it. How was I supposed to know that was a draft of an advertisement you were hoping to collect payment for?

Moving on, the inaugural brunch was attended by Miss Skywalker, with whom Raiden discussed his reasons for opening the restaurant and also convinced her to give a Bellini a try. What's a- oh, that does sound interesting. I'll have to try one. Stark was also in attendance, and declined the crabcake benedict on account of the fact that one of his coworkers was a crustacean and thus it felt a little odd to him. Miss Zarrin the Elder as well as Miss Zarrin the Younger were educated regarding the difference between a mimosa and a Bellini, and decided to get one of each and try each others. Clever. Miss Vess stopped in as well, ordering one of each of the specials and a lesson on what the seven deadly sins were. Mr. Scientia had words to say regarding his fiancée's overly sugar-laden breakfast choices, but it seems there were no hard feelings as the conversation soon 'devolved into makeouts'. Miss Finch came by for brunch and possibly landed herself a job? At the very least, she did ask Raiden if he needed assistance with anything, before catching him up on how she'd been spending her summer so far. And the aforementioned Mr. Scientia discussed Raiden's need to branch out from pizza, hence the opening of this new restaurant. *more squirrel chittering* No, I'm not sending him an invoice for the airtime. Don't be ridiculous.

That's all, everyone. Until next week.

Saffron had been Deeply Neglected over the past few weeks, what with Snuggle Human turning into a kitten and Food human cruelly keeping her from her. Then, Snuggle Human hadn't shown up at all last week. All in all, she didn't know what to do with herself and was making that Snuggle Human's problem.

So now Vi had a cat sprawling over all over her demanding pets while also making a show of ignoring her. She was not going to get much work done today.

You know, the funny thing about taking a vacation was how, usually, the days leading up to that vacation quickly devolved into the kind of days that made you need that vacation the most. Granted, Summer was well aware of the fact that the store could manage to take care of itself just fine, more often than not, somehow, but there were still things to do be done to make sure they ran smoother and that she didn't come back to a complete chaotic mess or disaster or a new file of cheese panda assaults to add to the record.

If she even came back, that was. After all, unless Ravnica ended up being a total and complete unmitigated disaster...

Summer looked up, squinting at the speakers, which seemed to interrupt the innocuous smooth grocery store jazz with an ominous musical sting.

"Very funny," she murmured, intent to get back to her ordering and emails to let people know she'd be out on vacay for a couple of weeks, only to have Apu hand something over to her that also had her squinting, only this time at the flute of champagne he was handing her.

"Wait, is this to celebrate the fact that you don't have to deal with me for a little while?" she asked.

He said it was a belated National Bubbly Day celebration, but she did not believe him.

And oh hey! There was a pretty great sale on VCRs today, too! Look. Turtle & Canary was dedicated to its commitment to serving people from all places and time periods!

"Welcome to class," a decidedly non feline Ahsoka greeted them. "Master Skywalker is indisposed right now, but we won't let that get in the way of our first class.

"Now, those you who were in our previous class were given some homework to do over the break, Namely to find the saddest thing to do in a midlife crisis. for the sake of those who are new this session," And for everyone who just hadn't done it. "You'll have ten minutes to come up with something before presenting your homework with the rest of the class."

After everyone had made up presented their homework, Ahsoka continued. "The first class in usually for introductions, so what better way to introduce yourselves than by coming up with a mantra to live life by, the most original mantra wins."

Infinite Consortium, Monday

It was, of course, the fault of her upcoming class. She had Dominaria on the brain and such things lingered close. Her notes were all in Benalish, she'd woken up craving phelddagrif steaks - oooh, and a side of fried saproling - with her eggs, and here at the Consortium, she found herself playing old songs on her lyre. No, not just playing, but absently singing along as her mind traveled distant paths back to a music room, bright with sunlight, a dark-haired woman playing the lap-harp and harmonizing with her eldest daughter...

Eventually something would happen to break the spell, but until then, the Consortium was filled with music in a language that Liliana hadn't heard another person speak in nearly two hundred years.

The Perk, Monday Morning

You know, in spite of all of Jack's concerns and trepidation, the past week had actually been pretty good. Not just the weekend - a show in England, followed by seeing the show in England, he was pretty sure getting everyone in to that had earned him points for life - but even all the stuff back home before it.

And then he'd decided to take a quick trip over to the island to check on things. Maybe run a cheap load of laundry. Except that hadn't worked, so now he was stuck with a hotel room full of dirty t-shirts and a sense of impending dread.

"Are you sure you need caffeine right now?" the barista asked him, as she shoved his giant coffee in his direction.

"I think caffeine is at the top of my pyramid of needs right now," Jack informed her. "... Or, wait, isn't that the bottom? How does that thing work anyway?"

"Please just go drink your coffee."

"Ugh," Jack muttered, glancing down at his shiny new Black Sabbath t-shirt. "How does this already have a stain on it?!"

Over Easy, Sunday

Hey, guess what, Fandom? There was a new restaurant in town!

No, not the Waffle House, although hopefully it would come around again soon. Raiden would never regret the competition.

This was Over Easy, a breakfast and brunch spot where Goodvalor's Little Bivoli used to be, open from 7-3 seven days a week and offering all your breakfast and brunch favorites (plus bottomless brunch cocktails on the weekends)! And today there was a giant OPEN NOW sign out front, plus balloons, while inside a jazz band had been hired to make their grand opening celebration a jazz brunch.

And Raiden was here, too, of course, giving last minute instructions and worrying, "Do we have enough eggs? I know how many eggs we have. I know it's a lot of eggs. But is it enough?"

Specials
Crab Cake Benedict
Bananas Foster French Toast
Cheesecake Stuffed Waffles with Berry Syrup

For the first time, Over Easy was open, and a discreet sign in the window proclaimed Now Hiring!

The Perk;.Saturday Afternoon [07/05].

Luma's search of the island for a Boc-scented tree had turned up futile, which made her equal parts frustrated and sad, especially since, when she told Eleanor, her sister was just sort of apathetic about ot all, saying that sometimes around here, people just did that, leaving unexpectedly. She'd had it happen before, with classmates, roommates, friends...

But Luma had never dealt with loss well. She'd always had so little, and yet still had lost so much. Arthur, Rhys, her father, grandparents, even Eleanor (especially Eleanor)...so while she and Boc hadn't been all that really close, it still felt like a deep cut, leaving her feeling....anxious. And angry. Inconsolable. All sorts of things she never really learned how to handle well.

The forlorn howling late a night from the woods, then, could be traced back to her, and she'd slept in late, only to drag herself out for at least one modern thing the island had to offer her to make her feel a little bit better, even if momentarily: a big blended mocha frappicinno from the Perk, and a big sticky cinnamon roll to go along with it.

It was only helping marginally, but it would just have to do, for now.

Well, they had a plan to go looking for another dog because they were definitely becoming That Couple. But also, they had the space and the inclination for it. So. Dog.

And that was the plan, but the island would clearly have other things in mind.

"We'll take my car, right?" Tony asked like it was any better for a dog than Steve's motorcycle. It was only in the vaguest sense better.

Fandom Radio, Thursday 7/4

*chittering*

No, you could have left me there. I was very comfortable where I was.

*snickering*

Oh, shut up. I would have come in here eventually. I’m allowed to sleep later sometimes. Especially if I’ve had a late night. You did not need to come downstairs to get me out of her bed!

*chittering*

It’s a complicated situation. Hush. Let’s just get on with it, please. Nothing from the school and nothing from the dorms but a couple of notes from the town and of course Steve’s birthday party.

Liz was at the Photo Hut working on spreadsheets and paperwork. Luma was at Pixie Dust wondering about Boc’s absence. I hope he’s all right.

And then the party which had plenty of food and drinks, of course and Steve had a bit of everything and reminded Tony he needed to eat too and that he was going to put so many things in the chocolate fountain. There was also dancing, and fireworks that weren’t really fireworks because they were drones, and then there were the guests.

Summer had a very nice firework dress and Tony told her she’d started a party trend and that Steve had to be convinced to have a party and they discussed his birthday next year. Steve was happy to see her and told her how I was doing radio today so they discussed jello so I had something to talk about. Thank you? Maybe? And I admired Summer’s dress and she liked my shirt and I asked her to dance.

Kitty was dressed in blue and she and Steve discussed how old Steve is and he isn’t sure but 30-something. I’m not sure either. Tony was pleased that Kitty was there and admiring his chandeliers.

Liliana had a new outfit, a suit, and Tony joked about the two of them running away together and…things that likely don’t need to be repeated on here. Steve surprised her with a hug and they also talked about Steve’s confusing age. I complimented her suit and we discussed upcoming classes. Don was also appreciative of her new outfit though somewhat formal about it.

I had a new shirt and Steve and I discussed the importance of cake and pie. But Tony may have cursed the island. If something happens soon it’s his fault. Remember that.

Ignis was there with Liliana who was describing the chandeliers and outfits for him. Tony and Ignis discussed differences in holidays and Steve and Ignis talked about birthdays coinciding with holidays.

Don arrived, discussed age confusion, and Don sang to him. Tony may have encouraged another song from Don.

Miss Lydia Bennet was there in a red evening gown and Steve encouraged her to see some fireworks tonight. Tony was glad to see her without any drunken squirrels demanding they perform for them. I understand this feeling. I could still be in bed…

Right. Nevermind. Raiden brought Gray with him but Gray was asleep. Steve pointed out a place to let Gray sleep and that there was a burger bar while Tony offered to get pillows and save some food.

After Don had left Thor arrived to wish Steve a happy birthday and to discuss eating all the desserts and Tony told him he was just in time to help transport the cake. Hopefully he got to eat some as well.

That’s all from the party and from Thursday at all.

*chittering*

No, I don’t need to tell anyone what I was doing after the party and neither do you. Hush.

I imagine I will be back to doing this on Wednesday again next week. Probably. Who knows. Until then, be careful of exploding things today and enjoy the holiday if it is one that you celebrate.

Event: LAUNDRY STRIKE

Hello, Fandom! Are you feeling nice and secure on your weirdness-free island? Well, too bad. Because from Monday, July 7th, through Friday, July 11th, Fandom is experiencing a LAUNDRY STRIKE.

That means that none of the washers or dryers will work all week - while temperatures rise and the amount of Clothing Incidents (tm) increase rapidly. Yes, there will be random mud pools around the island, and flocks of birds with GI problems, and - of course - the pizza is extra drippy this week.

And just to improve everyone's tempers, Friday night will see an island-wide fire drill. (Posted in the AM on Friday, so everyone can play all day.) Hope you still have some decent PJs left, everyone.

Lana's Alderaan, Thursday Evening

People'd be less impressed by the thrantas if they knew how karking stupid they were. Yeah, Jack had flown one once or twice as a kid; it was hard to grow up on this planet without it. But he viscerally remembered the stupid look in the thing's eyes, the way it would get distracted.

And his dad, grumbling about the wasted money the day after. Sitting in a chair at the medcenter, waiting for the kolto patches to be removed from Jaq's arms.

It'd been a long day out here. There wasn't much left of the town he'd grown up in. It'd been relentlessly renovated, older buildings removed and replaced with new, prettier ornate synthstone. If he had to take a guess, he assumed the people he'd grown up with had been priced out of the neighborhood.

Sorry, 'moved to more suitable housing'. It was Alderaan, after all.

And then they'd headed out, towards the mountains, a little more like the hiking trips they took back on Earth. But the mountains were taller and more majestic, and every once in a while, a thranta herd would come out from behind a snowy peak, and fly past the sun, and the sunlight would reflect on its wings, and Jack-- well, Jack wanted to grab a pebble and throw it out there with the Force. See if he could nail one.

ExpandBut he wasn't the only one there, and he knew it was an immature reflex. )

No.

*chittering*

We've had this discussion before.

*chittering*

It's not 'totally different' if you're 'just storing them'. No fireworks inside the station. If you really want to explode yourselves, do it outside. After you give me the notes.

Let's see, no classes of any kind up at the School, though it was a beach day in the Library, much to Cal and Gray's confusion when they came by to visit Arden.

The Dorms were quiet. Again. While in Town, Adrian was convinced he was being watched at Pick Your Poison, I'd suggest it was paranoia, but I do have all these notes about Rey trying to help him, and Lydia also making an appearance. Speaking of appearances, Raiden was all over the streets hanging up flyers for his new breakfast place. Finally, it was something of a mango theme at Caritas, though sadly, Tino was not a man gone. Summer texted, while Stark was glad Anakin had taken the week off, and Rey was asked for 'jello life choice opinions'.

*muffled explosions*

Outside the station, not outside the booth.

Pixie Dust; Thursday [07/03].

"No Boc today?"

Luma frowned a little when she came in to work that day; she was used to catching the little demi-human in the morning, before he scampered off to his Breakfast class, but since they were between classes, she was sort of looking forward to getting to spend a little more time with him. Yes, sure, she teased him an awful lot because he was just so skittish and frightened of nearly everything, but she liked him, and they could talk about embroidery and sewing and things like that and she found where he was from, based on what he'd shared with her, fascinating. And it was just nice, really, to have someone so clearly not entirely human, like herself, to just exist with.

So she was disappointed that he'd already apparently gone out, but then the other clerk mentioned that they hadn't actually seen him all week. When the concern deepened on her face, though, they reassured her that he'd probably just turned into a tree in the woods again.

Apparently, that was a thing he just did sometimes??

But Luma was still suspicious and worried, so she supposed she was going to be spending some time later to see if she could sniff out a Boc-scented tree. Would he smell different? She supposed she'd find out, but, as it were, even if she did work well enough while she was there today, she was distracted most of the time.

Pixie Dust is open!
