Tamsin's House of Sharp Things And Presently Not Enough Alcohol, Thursday Evening

For a couple of minutes, Tamsin had contemplated the idea of just opening up Town Hall for the party, but... what would be the point in that? People were fired up on hormones, people wanted to get laid, you needed a space small enough to get 'em close together. So to speak.

Also, this way she got free booze out of the deal, so-- win win.

She'd hung the black sheets back in front of the large store windows (partly to keep the light out, partly so it was slightly less obvious the house was technically a shop she was technically maybe squatting in). She'd tossed a ton of pillows and an old mattress on the floor, since she didn't actually have a sofa, per sé. The rooms upstairs were... well, okay, they were rooms.

And there was a table for incoming booze. With solo cups. Of course.

Perfect. Time for a party. If anyone had seen the posters...

Yeah, of course Mike showed up. There was no way he would've missed this after the week he'd had, productive though it had been.

He also brought a ton of beer with him. He was a good guest like that. (His shirt also didn't have sleeves. He was a good partygoer like that, too.)

"Nice arms," was the first thing Tamsin said.

"Nice beer!" was the second thing she said, and then the beer was getting grabbed.

Mike chuckled. Hey, it was nice to be approved of. "Thank you, and you're welcome." He gladly gave the beer to her, too. He figured he'd get his share of it eventually. "How's the party so far?"

"There's a ridiculous amount of hot people in there," Tamsin confided, popping the top off one bottle because beer was kind of her booze of choice. "And booze. So I'd say it's going pretty well so far."

"Yeah, I could already tell it was a hot people event." You know, by looking at her. Which he was now doing because reasons. "Sounds like my kind of party."

"Then you are most welcome, bazooka man," Tamsin said. "Make yourself at home. Take your coat off, maybe your shirt..."

Notice how he skipped over the idea that his shirt wouldn't be coming off during this party.

"Don't wanna play all my cards straight away."

"Is this going to be some slow-motion strip tease thing?" Tamsin asked. "Because I'm okay with that."

"Well I've got the skills at a pro level, so I can't go around acting like some hack."

This was the first time he'd made reference to his past this fast into getting acquainted with someone. Thanks, pollen.

"Aren't you worried about getting cold, Mike, darling?" Irene asked, eyeing his arms.

Look. Just because men weren't always her cup of tea didn't mean she couldn't appreciate a work of art.

"Nah," Mike replied, with a brief though definitely appreciative glance up and down her body because it could not be helped. "I think things here will be warm enough that I'll be just fine. But thanks for the concern, Irene."

"That's me. All concern," she assured him with a bright smile. "I'm just looking out. Wouldn't want you to catch a chill and end up in bed for less fun reasons than this week might inspire."

Mike chuckled. "I'm gonna be fine. If I start getting cold, I promise I will find someone to warm me up."

Maybe he'd do that as a precaution regardless!

"That, I imagine, won't be difficult at all," Irene said and okay, Mike, she was maybe going to try to touch one of your arms. They were impressive. "I mean, bloody look at you."

Mike did not mind at all. At all. He practically offered the arm up to be touched.

And quirked a little smirk. "Thank you, I try."

"Your effort isn't wasted," she assured him. "Jesus, you could probably bench-press two of me. Or whatever it is big strong men like you do to get these sorts of guns. I'm a bendy-exercise sort of person more than a lifty-exercise sort."

"Hey," he said. "Not bad, not bad. Kinda distracted this week, but other than that, cool. How about you?"

"I almost prefer the kind of crazy when things are trying to eat us. At least then you can work off energy by hitting things." Obviously Allie had a very unique sense of fun.

For a moment Allie remembered leaning into a warm side and a strong arm wrapped around her shoulders. "On the island? No...At least not till tonight."
